About Semarang – The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Central Java took strategic steps by forming a Work Team for the Acceleration of Waqf Land Certification (TKPSTW).
This initiative aims to support the legalization of waqf land used for religious facilities such as mosques, mushallas, boarding schools, madrasas, and Islamic educational institutions in the Central Java region.
This acceleration program is important considering that so far the process of waqf land certification often experiences constraints and delays.
Chairperson of the Central Java MUI, Dr. KH Ahmad Darodji MSi, emphasized that the formation of this team was one of the main recommendations in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme of accelerating waqf land certification which was held in the hall of the Khma Sahal Mahfudh Building, the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque (MRB) Complex in Central Java on Wednesday (4/6).
This FGD was held with the Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN) of Central Java in response to the slow process of waqf land certification so far.
“We realize that the acceleration of waqf land certification is an urgent need for Muslims, especially to guarantee the validity of land ownership which is the basis of religious facilities,” Kiai Darodji said while giving a presentation in the FGD.
This certification acceleration program is also an initiative launched by the National Land Agency (BPN) nationally.
In the recommendations read by the Secretary of the Central MUI, Agus Fathuddin Yusuf, there are seven important points formulated in the FGD.
In addition to forming a work team for accelerating certification, FGD also stressed that land that has been built religious facilities such as mosques, mushallas, boarding schools, madrasas, and Islamic educational institutions must be legalized on waqf certification.
Data collection on unfavited waqf land is the first step that must be immediately carried out collectively by all elements of Muslims.
Furthermore, the socialization of FGD results is also a priority to be conveyed to the manager of the mosque, Islamic boarding school, madrasa, and the wider community. The Secretariat of the Waqf Land Certification Implementation Team was placed in the Central Java MUI office in the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque Complex, Semarang.
The team’s operational costs will be borne by the Central Java Provincial Government, Regional Office of BPN, Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion, and Central Java Baznas.
Kiai Darodji added that to strengthen the team’s performance, various related elements such as the Regional Office of BPN, the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion, Central Java MUI, the Indonesian Waqf Agency (BWI), the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), PWNU, PW Muhammadiyah, and Islamic Higher Education were also involved in this work team.
Central Java MUI targets the entire process of accelerating the certification to be completed no later than the end of December 2025.
Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen also gave support through key speeches at the opening session of FGD.
In addition to the Deputy Governor, there was also the Head of the Regional Office of BPN Central Java Lampri A PTNH SH MH and the Regional Office of the Central Java Ministry of Religion Dr. H Wahid Arbani M.Ag who provided technical exposure related to the acceleration of waqf land certification.
With the establishment of the Work Team for the acceleration of waqf land certification, it is hoped that the legality of waqf land in Central Java can be realized soon so that the sustainability and benefit of religious facilities can be more guaranteed and legally protected. ***
